In this film, which is based on the novel "Japan Dignity" by Mineko Aoki, the traditional craft of Tsugaru lacquerware, also known as "Baka-nuri," is the main theme. The story follows Mayako Aoki, who lacks confidence and cannot seem to succeed in anything, as she begins to re-evaluate her life and find her own path through her relationship with her silent father, Seishiro, a Tsugaru lacquer craftsman.
